1181973 - Error: "Failed to assign SPN on account..." or "Failed to crack name..." configuring Active Directory


One of the steps to configure Active Directory (AD) using Java InfoView is to run the Windows utility setspn.exe. When running this program, one of the following error messages appears:

"C:\Program Files\Resource Kit>setspn.exe -R servername
Failed to crack name DOMAIN\servername into the FQDN, (0) 1 0x2"

"C:\Program Files\Resource Kit>setspn.exe -A BOBJCentralMS/HOSTNAME.DOMAIN.COM ServiceCMS
Registering ServicePrincipalNames for CN=boad,OU=Suporte-N2,OU=Operacao-Infra,OU
Failed to assign SPN on account 'CN=boad,OU=Suporte-N2,OU=Operacao-Infra,OU=Info
,OU=Costa,DC=spo,DC=sabesp,DC=com,DC=br', 0x2098"
