1183724 - Error: "Unknown Query Engine Error. Error in File" when using a CR application as a VSTO add-in

Symptom

When using a Crystal Report Basic for Visual Studio 2008 application as a Microsoft Office 2007 Add-In using Visual Studio Tools for Office 2007 (VSTO 2007), the following error message appears if the report is using ADO.NET datasets:

"Error: Unknown Query Engine Error. Error in File".

Cause

This known issue has been assigned track number ADAPT00874501.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in Service Pack 1 for Crystal Reports Basice for Visual Studio 2008.

Service Pack 1 for Crystal Reports Basice for Visual Studio 2008 can be found in the Business Objects Support Software Downloads area.

The installer is to be used on Development machines and it will update the runtime as well as the Crystal Reports redistributables on the local development machine.

About 64 Bit Computers

If the fix is applied to a 64bit development machine, you must first install the Service Pack, then uninstall the x64 Crystal Reports runtime from Add/Remove Programs and lastly install the new 64 bit runtime that was updated by the patch. The x64 runtime will update in the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5\CRRedist2008_x64.msi
