1196247 - Desktop Intelligence mishandles format of columns retrieved from a Personal Data Connection with MS Excel file

Symptom

Desktop Intelligence mishandles the data type when a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet which contains columns of mixed data type is used on a Personal Data Connection.

For example, if you have an Excel file in which there is a column containing text, number and date values, the text fields will be replaced by zeroes, dates will be replaced by a number and the number will remain a number.

This behaviour happens regardless of the format settings within Excel and also when any or all of the cells are formatted as Text.
