1197291 - The "Visual Basic UFLs" item is missing under "Additional Functions" in the formula editor

Symptom

Visual Basic UFLs don't show up under the "Additional Functions" tree in the "Formula Editor" for Crystal Reports 2008.
 

Cause

The issue has been identified and tracked under ID ADAPT00921829. This problem is caused by the presence of an older copy of u2lcom.dll (such as version 7.x or 8.x) in the C:\Windows\Crystal or C:\Windows\System32 directory. Crystal Reports 2008 loads the incorrect version of u2lcom.dll if an older version of Crystal Reports is installed, or if a custom application is installed that uses old Crystal Reports files.
 

Resolution

Business Objects has tracked this issue and is investigating a solution. As a workaround, you can fix the problem by doing the following:
  1. Click Start > Search > For Files or Folders > All Files or Folders.
  2. In the All or part of the file name text box type "u2lcom.dll" to search your system for all versions of that file.
  3. In the Look in drop-down list select My Computer.
  4. Click More advanced options, select Search system folders and Search hidden files or folders so all folders are searched. 
  5. Click the Search button to search all the drives.

NOTE

The version of u2lcom.dll your system should have is 12.x.x.xxx and is in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86.
  1. Right-click the earlier versions of the u2lcom.dll file, click Rename, and rename the file.

CAUTION
Keep in mind that renaming the older u2lcom.dll files may impact custom applications or older versions of Crystal Reports. You could also delete the older files but renaming is better in case you need them again.
