1197495 - Cross-tab not exported when exporting a report to CSV from Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • Empty CSV file.
  • Cross-tab not exported.
  • When exporting a report that contains a cross-tab to CSV format from Crystal Reports, it generates a CSV file with no data coming from the cross-tab.

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2008
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2013
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2016

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports, create a report off any data source.
  2. Insert a cross-tab on the report.
  3. Exort the report to CSV format.
  4. When opening the CSV file in a Text Editor, or in MS Excel, there is nothing.

Cause

  • Cross-tab is not a functionality supported when exporting a report to CSV format from Crystal Reports.

Resolution

  • Export to a different format that supports the cross-tab functionalty, like MS Excel.
