1197784 - Crystal Reports opens in English despite selecting a different language during first step of installation

Symptom

After installing Crystal Reports Multi-Language Build (MLB) and choosing French, or other language, Crystal Reports still opens in English.

Reproducing the Issue

The Windows operating system Regional Settings are set to English but you want to install Crystal Reports MLB in French.

  1. Run the *.msi installer package.
  2. Click the French language option at the first step during installation.

When opening Crystal Reports for the first time, it opens in English instead of French.

Cause

  • Crystal Reports detects the Windows Regional Settings when it opens.
  • After choosing the French language option during installation, Crystal Reports will still open in English if English is the locale selected in Regional Settings.

Resolution

Select the language you wish to use for Crystal Reports by clicking Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional Options in addition to installing Crystal Reports in the that language.
