1199440 - What happens when migrating DBUSER/DBPASS from Enterprise 5.x/6.x to BusinessObjects XI Release 2

Symptom

Businessobjects 5.x and 6.x users have the ability to use @Variable("BOUSER") and @Variable(BOPASS) in the connection information for the universe. The variables are replaced at runtime with the users enterprise username and password and used to log on to the database.

For security reasons, you can use the BOUSER variable, but not BOPASS in BusinessObjects XI Release 2 (XI R2). You can also set two new attributes in the CMC:

" DBUSER

" DBPASS

The DBUSER and DBPASS system variables must be in sync with the database username and passwords for data access.

The DBUSER and DBPASS system variables are for BusinessObjects universes and should only work with reports or documents that are based on universes.

When migrating, the Import Wizard automatically sets these variables with BOUSER and BOPASS.

It also replaces BOUSER and BOPASS by DBUSER and DBPASS in universes and documents.
