Symptom
A BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 environment has Critical Hot Fix (CHF) 17 applied. When installing Service Pack 2 (SP2), it detects CHF 17 and a dialog box appears.
Clicking Yes tells the install to continue. It does continue to overwrite all binaries previously installed by CHF17. Clicking No tells the install to leave the CHF17 Deployment unchanged (which it does) and exit smoothly (which it does not).
After clicking No, another dialog box appears.
After clicking Exit Setup, the CHF17 deployment is left as it was but the install does not exit smoothly.
The Yes/No dialog box remains on the screen for 4 to 6 minutes at which time it will exit but the main Welcome to BOE Installation dialog box will never exit and must be closed via the [X] in the top right. Alternatively, the Windows Task Manager can be used to stop setup.exe.
