1199752 - Error: "invalid connection" when attempting to create JNDI connection to a data source on a WebLogic 9.2 server using the Database Expert

Symptom

WebLogic.jar is added to the classpath in the CRconfig.xml file. The JDK 1.4 path is set to JavaDir (by default, Crystal Reports XI Release 2 sets JavaDir to a JDK 1.4 path). When attempting to create a JNDI connection to a data source on a WebLogic 9.2 server using the Database Expert, the following error message appears:

"Failed to open the connection.
Details: Invalid connection".

Cause

The weblogic.jar file is not compatible with JDK 1.4. Weblogic.jar in WebLogic Server 9.2 requires JDK 1.5.

Resolution

Upgrade to JDK 1.5 or use JDK 1.4 with the weblogic.jar file from WebLogic Server 8.1 SP 4 (or later).
