1200998 - Crystal Reports prompts twice for a dynamic data connection when creating a report

When creating a report, Crystal Reports prompts for the dynamic data connection. After providing the connection information, you are prompted for the same information a second time.

You are prompted first when selecting the Business View. This is to ensure that you have rights to access that connection. If you are using the Report Creation Wizard, the report opens on the Preview tab which causes CR to hit the database for information which will in turn cause another prompt for the dynamic data connection.

This behavior is by design. There is no work around nor is there a hot fix to change this behavior.
