1201380 - Error: "com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException:" when running JRC XI application

Symptom

When running a Java Reporting Component (JRC) XI application, the following error message appears:

"com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException: java.lang.NullPointerException---- Error code:-2147467259 Error code name:failed".

Cause

The JRC writes its temporary files to a Temp folder. Specifically, if the JRC API is being run on a Java Application Server, then the JRC will use the application server's Temp folder.

If the JRC API is being used in a thick-client, then it will use the system Temp folder.

Sometimes Tomcat installs without creating a Temp folder.

Resolution

To resolve the error message, create the appropriate Temp folder.
