1201463 - Enterprise Services fail to start when logging on as a service account instead of LocalSystem account

Symptom

  • While editing the startup account settings for a particular service in the Central Configuration Manager (CCM) in a Windows environment, after instructing a service to start under a "service account" user name instead of the default of LocalSystem, the service no longer starts.
  • In the Microsoft Windows Event Viewer, under the System event log, you may see error messages such as the following:
Service Control Manager Error None 7041 N/A BOENTERPRISESERVERNAME "The BOBJDesktopIntelligenceReportServer service was unable to log on as BOEnterpriseServerName\ServiceCMSAcctName with the currently configured password due to the following error:
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.
 
 
This service account does not have the necessary user right ""Log on as a service.""
This service account does not have the necessary user right ""Act as a part of the operating system.""
