1202287 - Error: "The page cannot be displayed HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error" when using the Internet Information Services Tomcat redirector

In BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2, after setup of the Internet Information Services (IIS) JK Tomcat redirector, the following error message appears:

"The page cannot be displayed. HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error".
 
The following error messages are also found in the redirector log:

"[Tue Jul 31 15:01:02 2007] [5928:3836] [error] jk_ajp_common.c (1953): (ajp13w) Connecting to tomcat failed. Tomcat is probably not started or is listening on the wrong port
[Tue Jul 31 15:01:02 2007] [5928:3836] [error] jk_isapi_plugin.c (1499): service() failed with http error 503
The command 'netstat "an|find "8009"' shows the following, which indicates Tomcat is listening on the correct port (8009 by default):
TCP 0.0.0.0:8009 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING".
