Reproducing the Issue

While troubleshooting a case, Support may request Event Logs from the Windows computer.
The steps to obtain the Event Logs are the same regardless of server. 

Resolution

Steps to obtain the required event logs:

  1. On the relevant server launch MS Event Viewer from Start | Run | Eventvwr.msc or Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Event Viewer 
  2. In the left hand column highlight and right mouse click on the event log (Application, Security or System) and select "Save Log File As..."  
  3. At the next screen give the file a name.  Use a prefix denoting whether it is an application, security or system event log, for example "app_eventlog.evt".  The file will automatically be given the default extension of EVT or EVTX)
  4. Click on the “Save” button
