1203273 - Graphic location for an OLE object is not updated if it's a PDF file

Symptom

You insert a pdf file from as an OLE object, but you cannot apply the graphic location option.

Also the OLE object does not change if the PDF file is moved to a different location.

Cause

This is by design.

Crystal Reports does not support pdf files but pixel based objects such as:

-Windows Bitmap (BMP)
-TIFF
-JPEG
-PNG
-and vector-based image format, i.e Windows Meta files (both WMF and the newer enhanced meta file format).

Resolution

Crystal Reports uses these formats because they are made up from tightly packed pixels - each pixel consisting of a solid color.
When viewed from a distance, these pixels give the optical illusion of being a solid shape.
When created on a computer, these pixels usually follow the RGB color system (Red Green Blue) and it is the varying amounts of these colors that make up the tones of any image.
