1204507 - Crystal Reports Basic for VS2008 Prompts for parameters and/or logon information

Symptom

If a ReportDocument is bound to the CrystalReportViewer control's reportsource property, and is not maintained in session, and is not set in the Page_Init of a webform, the viewstate of the viewer may not be maintained. This will result in prompting for database logons or parameters, and navigation issues may occur when events causing a postback to the webform are fired.

Cause

This known issue with the RTM version of Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 has been assigned tracking number ADAPT00874501.

Resolution

This has been resolved in Service Pack 1 for Crystal Reports Basic for VS 2008 

Service Pack 1 for Crystal Reports Basice for Visual Studio 2008 can be found in the Business Objects Support Software Downloads area.

The download for Service Pack 1 is to be used on Development machines and it will update the runtime as well as the Crystal Reports redistributables on the local development machine.

About 64 Bit Machines
If the fix is applied to a 64bit development machine, you must first install the MSP patch, then uninstall the x64 Crystal Reports runtime from Add/Remove Programs and then install the new 64 bit runtime that was updated by the patch. The x64 runtime gets updated in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5\CRRedist2008_x64.msi
