1204916 - Error: "ORA-12154" when using an Oracle 32-bit driver on a Windows 64-bit platform

Symptom

When using any of the products listed in the 'Environment' section of this article, on a Windows 64-bit operating system, with the SAP product installed to the default location under Program Files (x86), or other path containing any parenthesis, you may receive the following Oracle error message:

      Failed to open the connection.
      Details: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
