1205155 - How to sort variables with discontinued rows in Web Intelligence reports

Symptom

In BusinessObjects Enterprise XI, a Web Intelligence reportcontains a column for a variable. The report is made up of at leasttwo data providers with a unique dimension.

For example:
  1. Create a new Web Intelligence report using theeFashion sample universe.
  2. Add Store Name, SalesRevenue, and Quantity Sold.
  3. Run the query.
  4. Create a new variable called testvarwith formula =[Sales revenue]/[Quantity sold].Insert it in the table after Quantity Sold.
  5. Go to Edit Query. Add a new query using theeFashion universe.
  6. Add Store Name, State, andCity.
  7. Run the new query.
  8. Click the option for including the result objects inthe document without generating a table.
  9. Replace the Store Name column in the tablewith the new Merged Store Name Dimension.
  10. Add City and State to thetable after the testvar column.

Adding the first causes discontinued rows, as only one of thequeries contains these values. This results in data columns with#DATASYNC and #CONTEXT errors. The lack of common dimensions result in discontinued rows, and thevariable cannot be sorted.
