1205427 - "An error has occurred: Specified cast is not valid" occurs while logon to .Net Infoview.

An error message occurs when trying to logon to .Net Infoview on Crystal Report Server XI. The error message is "An error has occurred: Specified cast is not valid".

The issue is with .NET Web Component Adapter.  

To resolve this issue, reinstall the Web Component Adapter (WCA).

 

The steps for reinstalling WCA on server machine are as follows:

 

1. Go to Control Panel->Add & remove programs.

 

2. Highlight Crystal Reports Server XI & click "Change"

 

3. Select "Modify" option and click next.

 

4. Under Select Feature, Expand server components-> Servers.

 

5. Expand Web Component Adapters. For .NET Web Component Adapter, select "Entire Feature will be unavailable" and hit next to complete installation.

 

6. Go back to Control Panel->Add & remove programs.

 

7. Highlight Crystal Reports Server XI & click "Change".

 

8. Select "Modify" option and click next. Under Select Feature, Expand server components-> Servers.

 

9. Expand Web Component Adapters. For .NET Web Component Adapter, select "Will be installed on local hard drive". And specify CMS name.

 

10. Hit next to complete installation.

 

11. Start "World Wide Web Publishing Service" from CCM.

 

12. Open .NET Infoview and Login to Infoview successfully.
