1206388 - Connecting to DBS file through ODBC remotely gives error message "The table could not be found"

Symptom

 

When connecting remotely to a database .DBS file through ODBC and trying to run the application which uses Crystal Reports XI Release2 and VS.Net 2005, the following error message is displayed:

 "The table could not be found. Error in file C:\WINNT\TEMP\"

 Everything works as expected in the Crystal Reports Standalone Designer.

Resolution

Follow the below steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Create New Application Pool on the Web Server configured with Domain user. Open IIS on Web Server, Right-click Application Pools-New-Application Pool-OK (Default Settings). Right-click AppPool #1 (newly created AppPool)-Properties-Select Identity Tab-Select Configuration radio button-Enter Domain user name and password that gets access to the Web Server and Database Server.
  2. Select newly made Application Pool for .NET application. Right-click Application"s virtual directory-Properties-Virtual Directory tab. Select "AppPool #1" for Application Pool-OK.
  3. Reset IIS
  4. Grant Permissions to same Domain user on folder that contains Data file on Database Server. Right-click folder that contains Database file-Properties-Security-Add- Enter Domain user name inside object name and click Check name-OK-OK.
