A report is created based on a Field Definition File, which is a tab separated text file with the file extension '.ttx'. Reports that are based from ttx files do not show data when previewed at design-time. The data must be passed to the report as active data objects, during runtime.

This article will explain the two functions calls of the Active Data Driver (Pdsmon.dll 16-bit, P2smon.dll 32-bit) which can be used to create a Field Definition Files from existing active data objects, in code.
