1214880 - Report exported with landscape orientation changes to portrait orientation in Adobe Acrobat

Symptom

In Crystal Reports 9, a report is created using landscape paper orientation. When the report is exported to Portable Document Format (PDF), it retains this size and orientation in Adobe Acrobat. The report prints successfully in landscape as well.

However, in the Adobe Acrobat Print Setup dialog box (File > Page Setup) the orientation is set to portrait.

Cause

This behavior occurs because the Crystal Reports export driver does not set the page orientation in Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Acrobat assigns its own default page orientation regardless of the orientation in Crystal Reports.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the paper orientation in Adobe Acrobat after exporting from Crystal Reports.

Here are the steps:

  1. Click File > Page Setup in Adobe Acrobat.
  2. Click the Landscape option in the Orientation section.

NOTE:
This resolution will only work if a PCL6 printer driver is installed. If a Post Script printer driver is installed, change to a PCL6 printer driver.
