1216056 - Working with and Installing Localized Weekly Hot Fixes

Symptom

Weekly Hot Fixes (WHFs) on our FTP site are sometimes released in localized languages other than English. These are announced through Notes that address a specific issue resolved in the hot fix. These hot fixes are located on our FTP site.

What is the main difference between Localized and English WHFs? How should WHFs be applied?

Resolution

A key difference between English and localized Weekly Hot Fixes is that localized versions are not cumulative over time. Two to three months after an issue is first resolved in a localized WHF, it is then transferred to a localized Monthly Hot Fix (MHF). Files or components containing fixes are now no longer available in the WHF.

English Hot Fixes differ in that their resolutions remain in the WHF after being transferred to the MHF. English WHFs Fixes are cumulative.

When working with localized hot fixes to get a most up-to-date configuration, apply the hot fixes in this order:

1. Localized Monthly Hot Fix (available on our web site)

2. Localized Weekly Hot Fix (if available)

This ensures that all updated components are installed.

WARNING:

Weekly Hot Fixes are designed to address specific issues and are not intended to be installed as a general product update. If you have a development or testing environment, test the hot fix there first before moving to a production environment.
