1218332 - Blank lines inserted in exported text report after applying Cr90dbexwin_en.zip

Symptom

After applying the Crystal Reports update Cr90dbexwin_en.zip, blank lines are inserted when exporting a report to Text format. This update contains the export DLL U2ftext.dll version 9.2.1.570 (dated December 14, 2004).

Cause

This known issue has been assigned Track ID ADAPT00383932,.

Resolution

Hot Fixes or Service Packs address this issue as indicated below. With the update(s), lines and line height are a function of the Characters Per Inch (CPI) setting to ensure all data is in the exported report.

It is not possible to set the CPI for a report scheduled to Text format in Crystal Enterprise 9. Instead, a default CPI value is used, which may not be appropriate for all environments. The default CPI value is set by this registry subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crystal Decisions\9.0\Crystal Reports\Export\TextExport\CharPerInch

To use this default CPI value in CE 9, set the value of the following registry subkey to 1:

Subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crystal Decisions\9.0\Crystal Reports\Export\TextExport\ForceRegistryCPI

Type: DWORD

Recognized Values: 0, 1

Default Value: 0 (off), 1 (on)

Creation Method: Hot Fix Installation

Known limitations:

" Since these registry subkeys are in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive and their values are profile specific, the Crystal Enterprise Job Server must be run under a user account. This account must be used to log on when changing the value of these registry keys otherwise the value of the CPI will not change. If this account was not used to install the update, the 'ForceRegistryCPI' subkey must be created manually.

" The value of the 'CharPerInch' registry subkey may be changed in Crystal Reports. When exporting a report to Text format in Crystal Reports, you are prompted for a CPI value. Changing the value updates the registry subkey value. If you are exporting a report in Crystal Reports on the Crystal Enterprise server while logged on using the same account running the Job Server, changing this value will also change how Crystal Enterprise formats reports that are scheduled to Text format.
