1218904 - Individual tables do not show the changes to the database location in Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • In Crystal Reports after changing the database location, the database connection points to the new data source, but the individual tables do not show the new connection details.
  • Under set datasource location after updating the existing connection, the individual tables do not show the update connection details.

Environment

  • Crystal Reports XI R2 and earlier
  • Crystal Reports 2008
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2011

Cause

This behavior is by design. To ensure database integrity, each table, view, or procedure must be selected and pointed to match the table, view, or procedure in the new data source.

Resolution

To resolve the behavior

  1. Click Database > Set Datasource Location in the menu bar. The Set Datasource Location dialog box appears.
  2. Click the current datasource connection in the Current Data Source section.
  3. Expand the current datasource connection. Choose one of the tables, views, or stored procedures that need to be directed to a new data source.
  4. Go to the Replace with: section.
  5. Expand the desired data source connection location. Choose the matching table, view, or stored procedure.
  6. Click Update.
  7. Repeat steps 2 though 6 for each database table, view, or stored procedure listed below the original data source connection.
  8. Repeat steps 2 through 6 for all objects in each subreport.
