Symptom
When you uninstall the Crystal Reports XI Server, the COM error handling routines will no longer work.
NOTE: This issue also occurs when updating or uninstalling any application where the setup contains the corresponding Crystal Reports XI .NET MergeModules.
Resolution
The reason for this is that the following registry key gets corrupted during the Crystal Reports XI Server uninstallation:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{DF0B3D60-548F-101B-8E65-08002B2BD119}
To resolve this issue, download FixInstaller.exe from our web site.
A script in this file removes the RegSACommLayer, RegSACommLayer1 and RegSACommLayer2 registry entires from the Crystal Reports .MSI file that is located in the 'WINNT\Installer' directory.
If the installation was done from a custom MSI file created using our merge modules or the CrystalReports11_NET_EmbeddedInstall.msi downloaded from the Business Objects website, the above registry entries must be removed manually from the 'Registry' table of the MSI file using a utility such as Orca.
NOTE: This issue does not exist in the merge modules dated October/05 or later or CrystalReports11_NET_EmbeddedInstall.msi.
