1221547 - Formula based on characteristic

Symptoms

I am trying to create a formula to calculate the yearly flows (YTD) from the monthly flows (MTD) using the corresponding flow characteristic that has been set up.

The Flow dimension FL has a characteristic called PER-TYPE-FLW where a YTD flow like FY100 has corresponding period type of FM100. This characteristic is also linked to the Flow reference table.

The following formula can be saved in the category scenario :

{FL in YTDMVNTFLOWS} = {FL=VALUE(FL!PER-TYPE-FLW)}

However, the validation report shows the following :

Warning :

'incorrect setting - the {FL=VALUE(FL!PER-TYPE-FLW)} setting is not defined'.

Error:

"rejected formula" - manual formula"is rejected (no valid setting)'.

Please could you advise what is wrong either with the formula or what I need to check in my set up?
