1221786 - "Best practice" - How to get an application server out of a multi-server data source without turning the multi-server data source off? - FC

Symptom

I need to take an applicative server out of the online farm in a way that is not disruptive to users who are connected to the data source. When I stop or recycle the instances of the server I am trying to take off-line, their status changes to "no longer accept connections".

The problem is that if a new connection is directed towards the server you are trying to take off-line before all the instances it houses have been completely stopped (when all the users have logged off), a new instance is started. It is therefore impossible to stop the server completely.

The use of the "stop in forced mode" (of the instance) is not possible because this would disconnect the users that are currently working.

What should I do?
