Symptom

 

  • Installation of Crystal Reports completed successfully;
  • Start Crystal Reports;
  • Error message: An unhandled win32 exception occurred in crw32.exe [5200].

Environment

Environment: Crystal Reports XI Release 1

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Launch Crystal report designer.
  2. The error is displayed

Cause

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) prevents Crystal Reports from accessing the memory

Resolution

Turn off DEP for Crystal Reports:

 

  1. Log in as ‘Computer Administrator’;
  2. Right click on ‘My Computer’ and select ‘Properties’;
  3. Click on ‘Advanced’ Tab and click on ‘Settings’ button in ‘Performance’ frame;
  4. Click on ‘Data Execution Prevention’ tab. Click on the second option button;
  5. Click on ‘Add’ button and select;
  6. C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Crystal Reports 11\crw32.exe ;
  7. Click on ‘OK’ button.
  8. Restart the machine.
