1252507 - How to upgrade the Sun java SDK from default 1.4.x to 1.5.x (requires SP2)

JDK 1.5.x.x is preferable to JDK 1.4.x.x when using Active Directory authentication with a java application server such as Tomcat for the following reasons:

  • To avoid case sensitivity issues with usernames when logging into InfoView with Active Directory (AD) accounts
  • To resolve the inability to kinit usernames that have different SamAccounNames and UserPrincipalNames
  • To resolve the inability to kinit usernames via RC4 encryption
  • In order to NOT have to reset passwords for AD service accounts
  • Resolves issues with AD migrated accounts not being able to login with preauth or encryption errors
  • Resolve issues where logon attempts are creating multiple login requests against AD
