1253091 - Reports Designed in Crystal Reports designer XI when Run in CR4E gives error with JNDI Datasource.

Symptom

While using Crystal Reports for Eclipse(CR4E) using JDBC/JNDI Datasource gives "Invalid Connection URL or Database Classname".

Reproducing the Issue

  • Create report in Crystal Report XI designer with OCI drivers with following Properties:
    • Connection URL is "jdbc:oracle:oci:@<ServiceName_of_Oracle>". 
    • Database Classname is "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver".
  • Run the report in CR4E (Crystal Report for Eclipse)
  • The error Invalid connection URL or Error with JNDI Datasource is received.
 
  • Crystal Report Designer XI
  • Oracle 10g
  • JDBC Connectivity with OCI drivers

Cause

  • Connection URL “{userid}/{password}@<database name>" in Set Datasource Location Properties in Crystal Reports designer is incorrect .

Resolution

  • Upgrade Crystal Report Designer from XI to XI R2. 
  • Reports are redesigned in Crystal Report Designer XI R2 using the above shown URL.
