1256187 - Error: Failed to retrieve the cluster name from the database, While pointing the CMS system database to an Oracle Database

Symptom

  • While selecting the Central Management Server (CMS) data source, an error occurs: "Failed to retrieve the cluster name from the database. Reason The index info object with id 0 does not match the type of the index already in the database. The requested property type is ascii string and the one in the database is invalid. The requested property size is 56 and the one in the database is 56".
  • Tables are not created in the CMS Database.
  • Following error appears if BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1 is installed with MySQL completely and  if the CMS database is then being pointed to Oracle after running the ./cmsdbsetup:
  • Failed to get the cluster name from the database. STU00165 - [clntsh: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory] - [libclntsh.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory]
  • Trace log error: assert failure: (DatabaseSubsystemHelper.cpp:34). (0 : no message).
