1265531 - Tasks Submitted during a Substitution Period Not Handed Over Automatically to the Owner after Substitution Period Ends

Symptom

Tasks which are assigned during the substitution period are not automatically handed over to the owner even after the end of the substitution period.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. For a given period, configure a substitution: Manager A should substitute Manager B for the given period. During the period of the substitution, one of the employee reporting to Manager B enters a Leave Request. The corresponding approval task correctly reaches the inbox of Manager A.
  2. Manager A opens the task but he does not complete the task which therefore remains in status "In progress".
  3. The substitution period ends and the above mentioned approval task remains in the inbox of Manager A and it is not transferred back to Manager B for completion.

Cause

This is the system expected behavior.

Resolution

When switching off the substitution, all the tasks which are still in status "New" are immediately transferred back to the person being substituted, while those tasks, which were taken in progress by the substitute stay with the substitute for completion.

In case the substitute would like to hand over all the "In Process" tasks to the person being substituted, he/she has to forward the tasks manually.
