1279492 - Invalid License key error when opening Xcelsius 2008 SP1

Symptom

  • Error:" Invalid License Key" when trying to open Xcelsiu s2008 SP1 after installing fresh on a new system.

Environment

  • Xcelsius 2008

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Install Xcelsius 2008 on a machine.
  2. Uninstall and re-install Xcelsius 2008 with SP1.
  3. Start the Xcelsius and you get the "Invalid key" error.

Cause

  • This issue occurs due to the different license key stored in the registry of the machine.

Resolution

    ****WARNING****

This resolution involves making a modification to the System Registry. This is not an operation supported under normal procedures of SAP BusinessObjects. Therefore we recommend that this operation only be performed under the direction of Support staff. Create a backup of the System Registry before making any changes.
  1. Go to Start -> Run. Type regedit and click OK.
  2. Select File and Export the registry to save a back-up of it.
  3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Xcelsius\Keycodes.
  4. Right click on the default key and click Modify.
  5. Replace the old key with a new key and modify the date to reflect the current date.
  6. Close and reboot the system.
  7. Start Xcelsius and it works without any error.
