Symptom
- After a server reboot the SIA and Tomcat services do not start.
- java -version from a cmd window returns windows cannot find the jvm.
- Error in tomcat log files (tomcat55\logs)
- [2010-04-23 00:00:04] [info] Starting service...
[2010-04-23 00:00:05] [info] Error occurred during initialization of VM
[2010-04-23 00:00:05] [info] java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError
[2010-04-23 00:00:05] [info] : java/lang/Object
Environment
- BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1
- Windows
Cause
Reinstalling the jvm allowed Tomcat to start, but the SIA still goes to a start/stopped state.
No errors are generated for the CMS or SIA using -trace.
When attempting to create a new SIA, no errors are thrown in the CCM although a new SIA isn't created. However, a svcmgr log is created from the CCM in the logging folder and it references a few ClassDefNotFound errors.
Resolution
Resolution 1
- Copy the Business Objects\javasdk and Business Objects\common directories from a working system - ensure a backup of these directories has been taken before proceeding
Resolution 2
- Uninstall/reinstall resolved the issue.
