When trying to install Crystal Reports Server 2008, the following error message is displayed:
“Business Objects product detected. Crystal Reports Server 2008 is not allowed to install.”
Reproducing the Issue
Operating System: Windows Server 2003
Product: BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1
Product: BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1
Cause
The error comes if a Business Objects Server product is already installed and another Business Objects server product is tried to install on the same Windows machine.
Resolution
Please check if you have BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1 installed on your machine. If found, uninstall it and then install Crystal Reports Server 2008.
Note: In Windows machine it is not possible to keep two Business Objects Server products. However in Unix machine they can be installed under two different user accounts.
