1289129 - Unable to logon to SAP BusinessObjects BI Server from Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • Error when trying to connect to the server from Crystal Reports.
  • Login failed when attempting to connect to SAP BusinessObjects BI Server from Crystal Reports using the server name.
  • Can successfully logon to the server from Crystal Reports when using IP address of server.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports, under the menu "File", select "Open"
  2. In the "Open" window, in the left pane, select "Enterprise"
  3. Enter the Server Name, user name, and password.
  4. It then displays an error.

Cause

  • Not all the servers are running and enabled in Central Configuration Manager (CCM); or
  • Server name is not added in the host file of the local computer.

Resolution

  • Login to the Central Management Console (CMC), and ensure all the servers are running and enabled.
      
  • Add the Host Name, and IP Address of the SAP BusinessObjects BI Server in the Host file of the local computer:   
    1. In MS Windows, go to the following folder:

        C:\Windows\System32\driver\etc\
        
    2. In Notepad, open the file: host
        
    3. Add the IP address followed by the server host name at the end of the file, like:

      12.34.56.78     MyHostServerName 
        
    4. Save the file.
