Symptom
The Employee Time report shows some time recordings for the employees, but they did not record any time explicitly.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Time Administration work center.
- Go to Reports View.
- Select Employee Times report.
Cause
The employee has an Exception-Based time recording method assigned.
To check if an employee has Exception-Based recording enabled, follow the below steps:
- Go to Time Administration work center.
- Go to Employees view.
- Select the employee and click Edit button.
- In General tab, there is a field called Time Recording Method.
The Exception-Based time recording method implies that the employee is supposed to record time only in case of exceptions to his working schedule (vacation, illness...).
If the employee does not record any time, the system will assume that he/she has been working according to the working schedule and will take the working schedule as recorded time.
Resolution
If this is not the behavior intended for the time recording, it is possible to change the recording method to Positive.
When a Positive recording method is selected, the employee is always supposed to record any sort of time proactively.
Steps to be followed:
- Go to Time Administration work center.
- Go to Employees view.
- Select the employee and click Edit button.
- Go to Time Profile tab.
- Select Basic Data sub-tab
- Here, you can maintain the recording method for an employee.
