1308590 - How to avoid manually assigning NULL value as default to parameters in DHTML Viewer?

Symptom

How to set default parameters of a Crystal Report to NULL within the DHTML Viewer where the report is running off a Stored Procedure?

Environment

  • Crystal Reports XI R2 (All Patch levels)
  • Crystal Reports 2008 (All Patch levels)
  • Oracle 9i
  • Oracle 10g R2

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Run a Crystal Report based off an Oracle Stored Procedure in DHTML viewer
  2. When prompted for the parameters, we have to manually set each parameter to NULL as default

Cause

This is 'By Design' and we cannot avoid the manual entry of the NULL values for each parameter.

    Resolution

    1. As a workaround we need to pass the NULL value to the parameters directly in the stored procedure
    2. The report will thus be based on the parameters which have NULL values
    3. This would avoid manually assigning NULL values to the parameters
