1314259 - Crystal Reports crashes on parameter prompt

Symptom

  • There is no Start page when Crystal Reports launched
  • Crystal Reports crashes on report refresh if there is parameter prompt added to the report

Reproducing the Issue

1. Start Crystal Reports

2. Create a blank report (any database connection)

3. Create a static parameter 

4. Add parameter to any section of the report

5. Refresh the report

Crystal Reports application will crash with or without prompted error messages 

  • Windows OS
  • Internet explorer 7.0
  • Crystal Reports 

Cause

The old version of PSAPI.DLL loaded from location other than C:\Windows\system32 

Resolution

  1. Check the location of PSAPI.dll loaded by Crystal Reports (Help > About Crystal reports...> More Info) 
  2. If it is other than C:\WINDOWS\system32, rename the PSAPI.DLL in this directory to PSAPI.OLD

Crystal Reports should automatically take the correct version from C:\WINDOWS\system32
