1331169 - Handling File Format Data Truncation - Data Services XI

Symptom

  • When creating a Data Services file format from a flat file, field sizes are based on the first 20 rows of records.
  • Field size becomes too small if larger data occur after the first 20 rows of records.
  • When using the file format, longer field values are silently truncated.
  • No warnings or errors generated even when 'Log data conversion warnings', 'Log row format warnings', 'Capture data conversion errors', 'Capture row format errors' and 'Write error rows to file' are all set to 'Yes'.
  • Longer fields values are truncated when viewing file contents after a profiler request. Field truncation goes through the entire system.
