1331596 - List of Values (LOV) is empty in Crystal Reports based on a universe

Symptom

  • List of values in prompts are not available
  • 'Select from List' option in greyed out in the Business Objects Query Panel in Crystal Reports.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a report based on a universe
  2. Create prompts based on the related objects
  3. Refresh the report

  • Universe Designer XI 3.1

    • Cause

    This is because the option 'Hierarchical Display' is checked in the related objects' properties in Universe Designer.  If this option is checked, then the LOV show up empty in CrystalReports and moreover, the 'Select from List' in the Business Objects Query Panel is also greyed out.

    Resolution

    1. Go to Universe Designer
    2. Edit the properties of the affected objects
    3. Uncheck the option 'Hierarchical Display'
    4. Save and export the universe
    5. Create a report in Crystal and test
