Symptom

Polish characters are displayed in a PDF as question marks or boxes.

Reproducing the Issue

  • Create a Crystal Reports report, which contains Polish characters.
  • Create a Java application that uses Crystal Reports for Eclipse to export as PDF the report.

Environment 

  •  Crystal Reports for Eclipse version 1

Cause

This is a product limitation as explain in Crystal Reports for Eclipse version 1 Release notes.

Resolution

To solve the issue, use Crystal Reports for Eclipse version 2
