1355597 - Universe can not recognize Oracle NCHAR and NVARCHAR2 data when database's character set is set to non-UTF

Symptom

  • Can not display correct Asian characters(such as Thai or Chinese) in Web Intelligence reports and Desktop Intelligence reports.
  • When preview table values in Universe Designer, all Asian characters stored as NCHAR or NVARCHAR2 in Oracle database are shown as '?'.
  • When run SELECT SQL command in Oracle SQLPLUS, all Asian characters are shown correctly.
