1356685 - How to re-initialize the CMS database

Symptom

For any number of reasons you wish to create a new set of tables for the CMS to use in a database.  The reasons may include, but are not limited to:

  • Changing data sources to a new database server and want to test the system before bringing your data over
  • Troubleshooting
  • Cleaning out a test system
  • During setup of the system no tables were created in the CMS database

  • All data contained in the CMS will be lost, this includes all users, authentication plugin configs, object information such as universes and reports, etc.
  • There is no way, short of a restoration from backup, to recover from this action should it be necessary.
  • The process drops all CMS tables and creates new tables, so the user account used on the database must be capable of these actions.
