Symptom

  • A licence key was provided for Business Objects Edge XI 3.1
  • The physical media provided or the installer dowloaded from the SAP Support portal is Business Objects Edge XI 3.0
  • When adding the licence key in CMC, the following error is thrown: "License Key Error: Invalid Key XXXXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX-XXXX"
  • Using addlicensekey.js script to inject the license key
    • Wed Jul 22 13:16:26 UTC+0100 2009 C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\addlicensekey.js started
      Wed Jul 22 13:16:30 UTC+0100 2009 Logged on to CMS lm-2003-edge30
      addlicensekey.js err: Wed Jul 22 13:16:31 UTC+0100 2009 Error: Commit failed. Couldn't add the license key
      Error description: License Key Error: Invalid Key XXXXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX-XXXX.
      addlicensekey.js err: Wed Jul 22 13:16:40 UTC+0100 2009 Error: Couldn't add license key
      Error description: AddLicenseKey returns 0
      Wed Jul 22 13:16:43 UTC+0100 2009 Aborting
