1386271 - No SAP Systems available when creating a new connection in Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • SAP Systems list blank.
  • In SAP GUI, it displays the SAP Systems entries.
  • In Crystal Reports, there is no list of SAP BW Systems or SAP Systems to select from.
  • In Crystal Reports, when attempting to create a new connection to SAP ECC, ERP, or SAP BW, there is no available systems to select.

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports 2013
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2016
  • SAP Crystal Reports 2020

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports, create a new data source connection.
  2. Choose SAP Tables, Clusters or Functions, or SAP BW MDX driver.
  3. Notice there is no list of SAP systems or SAP BW systems.

Cause

  • The list of SAP Systems is empty when Crystal Reports:
    • Cannot find the file on the local computer where the SAP System entries are stored; or
    • The file found does not contain any SAP System entries.
              
  • The list of SAP System is created using the SAP Logon. And the SAP Logon / GUI stores the SAP Systems information in the following file, depending of the version of SAP GUI:
    • SAP GUI 7.20 to 7.30 : saplogon.ini
    • SAP GUI 7.40 to 7.60 : SAPUILandscape.xml               

Resolution

  • Copy the file in which the list of SAP Systems are stored to one of the directory where Crystal Reports read the file:
       
    1. Depending of the version of SAP Logon locate the file where the list of SAP Systems is stored, on your local computer:
        • SAP GUI 7.20 to 7.30 : saplogon.ini
          • SAP GUI 7.40 to 7.60 : SAPUILandscape.xml    
                  
        1. Copy and paste the file in one of the following folder:
            
               C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common\
               C:\Windows\
                
        2. Close and re-open Crystal Reports.
             
        3. Now, it will display the list of available SAP systems or SAP BW systems.
