Symptom
- Some database fields are removed when refreshing a report
- When refreshing a report based off a Universe, receive the following warning: The database file “<data source name>” has changed. Proceed to fix the report. Then some database fields are removed from the report
Reproducing the Issue
- In Crystal Reports, open a report based off a Universe
- Refresh the report
- The following message displays: The database file “<data source name>” has changed. Proceed to fix the report.
- Click OK to continue
- The next message displays: The database is now up to date.
- Click OK to continue
- Some database fields are removed from the report
- Crystal Reports XI
- Crystal Reports XI R2
- Crystal Reports 2008
Cause
- The object in the Universe have been removed or hidden.
- When refreshing a report based off a Universe, Crystal Reports verify if each database field (object) used on the report exist in the Universe, if an object in the Universe is hidden or deleted, it will be removed from the report as the user should not be able to see hidden or deleted objects.
Resolution
This is normal behavior.
