1398914 - Formatting the width of a field to 0 displays part of the cell content incorrectly in Crystal Reports

Symptom

  • Incorrect display of field in report
  • Part of the cell still shows despite the width has been set to 0

Environment

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 1 Fix Pack 1.7

Reproducing the Issue

  • Open Crystal Reports Designer
  • Create a new report using Club database
  • Insert a number field into the detail section of the report. Use the Sales table and
    insert cust_id for example.
  • Right-click on the cust_id field in the detail section and select "size and position" > Set the width to 0.
  • Switch to the preview panel and observe how little bits of the cell content can still be seen. In order to see it
    better, zoom to size 250%

Cause

 

This issue has initially been identified as a potential bug and escalated to Product Group.  But after further investigation, it was advised that it should rather be considered as an Enhancement Request.

Resolution

This has been raised as an Enhancement Request (ER) with reference number ADAPT01318363. 

The ER will be considered in terms of future product development when considering possible new features in the next major release. Please note that the ER may or may not be included depending on various factors.
