1403614 - BPC MS Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Symptom

You get the following error when you try to process an application from BPC Administration:
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" followed by:

Error message:: CreateOLAPCubeForApplication:CreateCube:Internal error: The operation terminated unsuccessfully.
Internal error: The operation terminated unsuccessfully.
The following system error occurred:  Unspecified error .
Errors in the high-level relational engine. A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of 'AppDef', Name of 'AppDef'.
Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while processing the 'FAC2Finance' partition of the 'Finance' measure group for the 'Finance' cube from the ApShellCopy database.
Internal error: The operation terminated unsuccessfully.

OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.; 08001.
